Kohler-Cadmore steers Somerset to success

A match-winning half century from Tom Kohler-Cadmore helped Somerset return to winning ways in the Vitality T20 Blast with a comprehensive victory over Surrey at the Cooper Associates County Ground.

Kohler-Cadmore’s 51 in 32 balls helped Lewis Gregory’s side to chase down the total of 183 for victory. He hit three sixes and a trio of four as he shared a crucial stand of 67 for the third wicket alongside Tom Abell.

When Abell departed, George Thomas - on his Blast debut - made an instant impression, striking a superb 25-ball knock of 40, while Sean Dickson scored a nerveless 20 not out at the death to see the Cidermen home.

Having earlier won the toss, Surrey made 182 for five, an innings built around a partnership of 107 in 12.2 overs between Sam Curran and Rory Burns.

Back from international duty with England, Curran smashed 59 from 42 balls, while Burns top-scored for the visitors with 62 off just 44 deliveries. There was also a quick-fire 30 not out at the death from former Somerset all-rounded, Jamie Overton.

Somerset’s victory keeps them on course to defend their title with a place in the quarter-finals still very much up for grabs for Andy Hurry’s men.
