Canadian star returning to the Chiefs

A familiar face is returning to Sandy Park this summer, after Exeter Chiefs Women’s head coach Susie Appleby confirmed the signing of Taylor Perry.

The Canadian international, who was part of the club’s maiden season in the Allianz Premier 15s, is the latest name to be added to Appleby’s squad ahead of the new PWR season.

Previously, Perry – who was then Taylor Black – featured 14 times for the Devon club, scoring three tries in the process.

Since her debut season with the Chiefs, the 23-year-old fly-half has played for Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario and has featured for Canada at both 15s and 7s level.

Appleby was naturally delighted to welcome back Perry to the fold, saying: “Taylor is another returning player we are welcoming back to our squad. We always say that ‘once a Chief, always a Chief’.

“Taylor was fantastic the season she was with us, frustratingly cut short by injury. She now has extra experience under her belt at domestic and international level, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what she can bring to our game next season while adding some competition for the No.10 jersey.”

Perry herself cannot wait to pull on a Chiefs jersey once more, adding: “Joining the Chiefs is an exciting opportunity to build on the fantastic experience I had with them in 2020/2021. Witnessing the team's growth over the past three years has been inspiring and it's exactly what attracted me to join.

“Their near misses with the league finals only fuels my belief that this team is capable of finishing on top. If I’m able to come and contribute to this, I would be very grateful for the opportunity. With exceptional coaches, support staff, and talented team-mates, I'm eager to elevate my game and see what next season holds for us.”
